Request for Referrals and/or Database Listing of Certified MBE/WBE/OBE Firms

 

To Whom It May Concern:

 

Swinerton Builders (EEO) is soliciting bids for the Children’s Institute (CII) – Temple Street CampusUrban Greening Project located in Los Angeles, CA.  To ensure a fair proportion of the construction dollars are placed with MBE/WBE/OBE construction subcontractors, the successful general contractor is required to reflect good faith efforts to solicit MBE/WBE/OBE subcontractors.  In addition, all selected subcontractors are also required to enroll in Swinerton’s Subcontractor Prequalification program.

 

As a general contractor, Swinerton Builders is firmly committed to providing MBE/WBE/OBE certified companies with the maximum practical opportunity to participate as subcontractors, second and third tier subcontractors, and material suppliers.  In this light, I would like to request your assistance by providing us with a listing of MBE/WBE/OBE subcontractors by fax (213.896.0027) or e-mail (mdancy@swinerton.com).  We request this information be provided as soon as possible so that Swinerton Builders has ample time to contact your referrals. 

 

Please be advised that subcontractors are required to furnish 100% Performance and Payment Bonds from a U.S. Treasury listed surety (premium cost to be included in bid as a separate line item).  Swinerton will pay the cost of the bond premium up to 1.3% of the contract amount.  MBE/WBE/OBE subcontractors may contact our Director of Affirmative Action, Rick Moore, at (415) 984-1289, for assistance in obtaining bonds, lines of credit and/or insurance. 

 

Description of Project: The project will consist of urban greening, playground furnishings, fencing and automatic gates within a 48,000 sq. ft. area of outdoor space of the Grantee’s newly constructed Temple Street Campus. Swinerton Builders will consider all or any portion or subsection of the following trades: Demolition, Landscape/Irrigation, Fencing. This is a prevailing wage project requiring weekly Certified Payroll Reports. The estimated value of this project is $500,000.
